I’m a recent graduate of the Industrial Design program. My creative story began at an early age drawing up floor plans and branding efforts for imaginary baseball teams. This pursuit facilitated the need to create in forms of my various interests, an ethos I maintain to this day. My current interests involve using art and design as a tool for social change.
Sentient
Animal consumption is a social norm that has long been supported by tradition and public policy. Many of the ethical, environmental, and health issues with animal consumption are not widely known. This creates a major disconnect between the general public’s intentions and their actions. For instance, it’s widely agreed upon that putting animals through pain and suffering is bad, however, 95% of the US population consume animal products. When people consume animal products they support the horrific actions of animal agriculture. Corporations that produce animal products have a large amount of political power and have created ‘ag-gag’ laws to hide their practices. The installation proposed seeks to bridge the gap between living animals and animal products, and provide the means to live a healthier, more ethical and sustainable lifestyle.
