Saturday, May 30 from 10AM - 4PM
Thursday, August 20 from 10AM - 4PM
3D printing has become a core tool in architecture, design, engineering, and product development. Mastering the setup, operation, and maintenance of a personal 3D printer can significantly improve a student’s or professional’s ability to prototype ideas and produce high-quality models on demand.
In this workshop, each participant will:
- Assemble a Neptune 4 Plus FDM 3D printer from a kit.
- Learn the underlying mechanics of the machine (motion system, extrusion, bed leveling, firmware settings).
- Calibrate and test the printer using sample files.
- Review best practices for routine maintenance and troubleshooting.
- Receive guidance on basic slicing workflows and material selection, with a focus on PLA.
By the end of the workshop, each participant leaves with a fully assembled, calibrated printer, the knowledge needed to keep it running reliably, and a verifiable digital badge recognizing their skills.
Participants who successfully complete the workshop will receive an NJIT–LDI digital badge in Digital Fabrication: 3D Printer Assembly and Operation, which can be shared on LinkedIn and other professional platforms.
