Please be advised, there is a year-long evaluation process to change majors to an HCAD program. This evaluation includes the following minimum requirements for change of major consideration:
Before taking HCAD courses, students should speak with their current academic advisor to discuss their plans to change majors, coordinate their remaining registration options, and remove their advisor hold. (HCAD advisors cannot remove advisor holds for students from other academic departments.)
All change of major requests are reviewed and decided on at the END of the Spring semester, after all final grades are posted and portfolios are reviewed. Students are notified via email of the status of their request by the HCAD Advising Team.
Students who are approved to change their major must complete the Registrar’s Change of Major Form and will be provided further guidance on their degree and schedule options.
Students who are NOT approved to change their major will be advised of appropriate next steps.
