The Hillier College of Architecture and Design (HCAD) Gallery Past Exhibitions
Spring 2022, The J. Robert and Barbara A. Hillier College of Architecture and Design (HCAD Gallery) at NJIT is honored to present an exhibition featuring professional artists Gianluca Bianchino and Kati Vilim. Curated by Matthew Gosser, Abstract Geometries explores the similarities and differences between the works of Bianchino and Vilim throughout various phases of their careers. The wall works consist of abstract geometric paintings and wall reliefs in the manner of assemblage or multimedia sculpture. These will be hung throughout the space not as separate entities but as a continuous formal and conceptual narrative, presenting harmony as well as contrasting elements. The connective geometries as well as color and use of space will appear sometimes as minimalist nuances, other times as striking contrasting elements.
Abstract Geometries will open to the public on Thursday, February 17 from 6 – 9 pm with a reception for the artists, live entertainment, and light refreshments. The exhibition will close on Sunday, March 27, 2022 with an artist talk starting at 2 p.m.

Fall 2020, The Hillier College of Architecture and Design (HCAD) Gallery is proud to present an exhibition featuring the New York-based firm Marvel Architects. Marvel Architects is the architectural practice responsible for several recent renovations on NJIT campus. Most notably, they completed the adaptive re-use of the historic Central High School structure into the gorgeous, LEED certified, Central King Building. More recently, they were commissioned by the HCAD to re-design both lecture halls and the ground floor of Weston Hall. These renovations will be complete by the beginning of October for a ribbon cutting ceremony, coinciding with the launch of the Marvel Architects exhibition, also on the ground floor of Weston Hall.
