There are many dimensions to the expertise in the faculty body at Hillier College; worldly and global, local and social, environmental and urban, with a design focus that is multidisciplinary, collaborative, technological, and often ahead of it’s time. Professor of Architecture Branko Kolarevic just gave a talk in Belgrade Serbia this week May 6th, organized by Design and Architecture Society (DAS) of Bilkent University. Kolarevic spoke about mass customization and design democratization, which was the topic of a book he and Jose Duarte (from Penn State) published five years ago.
This talk was preceded by a talk in April as part of the "Graz Architecture Lectures" in Austria where Kolarevic discussed change and time as a design dimension in architecture.
Prior to that, in February Kolarevic was an invited speaker in a symposium at La Sapienza University in Rome. The event was titled "Architecture in the Digital Age" and was organized by two faculty members from the Faculty of Civil and Industrial Engineering, where they have a PhD program in architecture and technology. It was two days of interesting presentations and discussions mostly in Italian - a publication to follow.
Vera Parlac and Kolarevic also gave a public lecture at Sapienza on "Building Dynamics: Architecture of Change", the subject of their 2015 book.
