Emily Gutierrez
This graduation ceremony marks the end of Emily’s six-year long education at NJIT. She received her Bachelor of Arts in Interior Design in 2018, and is now graduating with a Master of Architecture degree.
Four Freedoms Foundation
The Four Freedoms Foundation serves as a museum, library, assembly space, and public cafe. The building rests between the FDR memorial designed by Louis Kahn and the ruins of a smallpox hospital designed by James Renwick Jr. The design intention is to highlight the views of these unique site conditions from the interior spaces, especially the high public second floor. The building's most identifiable quality is its exterior cladding of pre-oxidized copper panels, which evokes the texture of the Statue of Liberty, another local symbol of Freedom.
