Neolithic Yam Tool
A hand tool for Neolithic yam farmers. It combines an adze and sickle which are cut from a single stone into a wooden handle, reflecting human bone anatomy. The wood started as a log in my yard from a fallen ash tree. The log was gradually cut into more manageable size, and at one point may have put a band saw out of commission in the model shop. The stone was sourced from a garden retaining wall which I cut and ground to shape. It reflects early tools which were often made of bone, it pulls inspiration from bones in the foot and elbow.
