Another Award for "Holding Pattern" and NJIT's Georgeen Theodore
“Holding Pattern” brings Interboro Partners, and NJIT CoAD’s Georgeen Theodore as one of the founding partners, another award. The project was announced as the Urban Design Merit Award Winner in AIA New York's Design Awards. The annual NY AIA Design Awards Program recognizes outstanding architectural design by New York City architects and for work in New York City. Design Awards Luncheon will be held on April 18. The Design Awards Exhibition will open on April 19 and will be on view through May 31.
“Holding Pattern”, designed initially for MoMA PS1 and won the 2011 Young Architects Program, dwelled on the idea of recycling. However, instead of “reusing” the existing design, the design team started from defining the reuses to create the project in the first place. After it was de-installed from the courtyard of MoMA PS1, parts of the project were delivered to their intended homes.
