Aleksandra Czyrsznic
My name is Aleksandra Czyrsznic. I am graduating with a Bachelor’s in Architecture. During my time at NJIT I was a part of the Wind Ensemble as a flute player. I also took part in the study abroad program to Innsbruck Austria in Spring 2019. Since completing my freshman year at Hillier College I have been interning at a firm in NYC where I plan to apply for a full-time position once the current situation is improved.
Housing Studio
This project involved making study models out of foam that expressed certain words relating to motion, then creating hollow volumes from those solid foam models and cutting openings in certain sides in order to observe the inner workings and how light may enter the volume. The action word used was “extrude”. The foam was shaped into a 7” cube made from two comb-shaped halves that when pulled from opposite corners would extrude outwards due to the strategic cuts. When this form was made hollow and constructed using paper folding techniques, the places where the two halves of the cube met became connections between inner spaces created. This was an interesting study into where the inside and outside of a volume lies.
