I am Egyptian, born and raised in Jersey City. In 2006, I had a full scholarship to the school of Cooper Union for the Advancement of Science and Art. There, I studied art for 3 years before realizing I want to study architecture. The school allowed only one scholarship at the time. I took a break, started my own business, sold the business 5 years later, and used the money to go to New Jersey Institute of Technology (NJIT) to pursue a degree in architecture. I’m now graduating with a Bachelor of Architecture and soon a Masters in Civil Engineering. I had a job as an intern at a medium size firm, I was laid off due to COVID-19. Four Freedoms Museum
The attached project is my last project at NJIT. I consider this to be my best project because of the level of technicality involved in the project. It is also the only project that shows my education about mechanical, structure, electrical, zoning, code and much more. The site is located on Roosevelt Island, south of the Queensboro Bridge also known as the 59th Street Bridge. Such a challenging project since it is located between NYC’s only landmarked ruin (Renwick Smallpox hospital), and the one of the most poetic Architectural pieces (Franklin D Roosevelt Four Freedoms State Park) by Louis Kahn.
