I am graduating with a Bachelor’s in Architecture with a Minor in Sustainability. During my time at NJIT I was awarded several scholarships, worked as a Peer-Mentor for Freshman Studios, a Teacher’s Assistant during the Pre-College Program, studied abroad in Denmark and learned Danish, interned as both an Architect + Landscape Architecture student, combined my studio projects with analytical research, and will be Graduating Magna Cum Laude. In the future I intend to design to reduce strain on ecological systems as I have a vested interest in sustainability and ecosystemic health. I also wish to pursue design as a medium towards rectifying issues which propel social inequality. As Architects we must be aware that individual actions often manifest into systemic consequences, my hope is to design for the wellbeing of all involved.
The Four Freedom Museum
The Four Freedom’s museum is intentionally designed as a narrative approach towards documenting the beneficial aspects of Franklin Roosevelt’s presidency as well as drawing attention towards the more negative aspects of his career. It is my intention as a designer that a monument dedicated to such an influential character must illustrate the figure through every lens available. Each gallery wing dictated the 4 freedoms: Speech, Fear, Worship, and Want, as described in FDR’s inaugural speech. These meanings are abstracted physically within the space and sequence of the user. Each gallery has a direct connection, either axially or referenced, to a local fixture related to the meanings of each freedom. Additionally they are also connected to garden spaces through direct or visual means to illustrate the duality of each freedom, essentially comparing and contrasting the legacy of FDR and his political decisions.
