James A. Roman
After graduating from the University of Hartford in the Class of 2017 with a B.S. in Architectural Engineering Technology, James pursued his M. Arch at the NJIT Hillier School of Architecture and Design graduate program in the fall of 2018. As a teacher's assistant, James helped industrial design and architecture students on various projects in model shop. During the summer of 2019, James visited Rome and Siena during the Siena Studio/ Summer Study Abroad Program.
Four Freedoms Foundation
The form of the Four Freedoms Foundation responds to the site by focusing attention to critical views and datum lines that translate through the FDR Memorial and the Smallpox Hospital on Roosevelt Island. The Four Freedoms declared in Franklin D. Roosevelt’s 1941 State of the Union address represents a period in history when FDR promoted resilience and courage as the United States was about to embark in the Second World War. In each gallery of the Four Freedoms Foundation, visitors will find one of Norman Rockwell’s illustrations of the Four Freedoms which include: Freedom of Speech, Freedom of Worship, Freedom From Fear, and Freedom From Want.
