UI/UX Digital Design Essentials Graduate Certificate | Hillier College of Architecture and Design

The 12-credit UI/UX Digital Design Essentials Graduate Certificate provides foundational training in human-centered design, user experience (UX) design, and user interface (UI) design. Through hands-on coursework, students will develop expertise in UX research, interaction design, prototyping, and usability testing. This certificate prepares students for entry-level roles in digital content creation, interface design, and interactive media. It is designed as a stand-alone credential but can also serve as a pathway toward the MS in Digital Design.

Required Courses (9 Credits)

DD 634 – Physical Computing for Designers: Interaction Design
Explore interactive and scripted/animated visual communication, applying principles of interaction design to web, exhibit, and scientific visualization projects.
DD 640 – User Interface/User Experience in Digital Design
Apply UX design research methods and processes to develop and test physical, virtual, and hybrid interactive prototypes.
IS 661 – User Experience Design
Gain hands-on experience in UX processes, from concept development to creating intuitive digital product designs.

Elective Option (Choose One, 3 Credits)

IS 664 – Customer Discovery Design
Learn qualitative UX research methods to investigate user needs, evaluate experiences, and inform design decisions.
DD 601 – Graphic Design and Color Theory
Study the principles of graphic design, color theory, and digital media applications, with hands-on projects using both traditional and digital tools.
