These last five years at NJIT have been really fun and I have learned a lot. The college of architecture has allowed me to grow as a person overall both inside design but also outside design. I hope that everyone in the graduating class goes on to do great things with their careers and with their future endeavors. I just want to say thank you to my parents, family, and friends for being with me on this journey in my life.
Four Freedoms Foundation
The design of the building focuses on the relationship between the Khan Memorial and the Hospital Ruins. In the middle of the site are the four museums representing the four freedoms, these museums are uplifted off the ground to allow easy access from one side of the site to the other. It is designed such that the building does not disturb the stairs up to the Khan Memorial. Connecting all the structures is a vertical street on the Khan Memorial side of the site which is blocked by vertical garden screens to allow privacy on the Khan Memorial site side. On the opposing side, the buildings have a more ruin-like look due to the shape and design of each module. This is meant to resemble the Hospital Ruins which the building is facing, pulling away from the edge of the site at some points to allow more space within the already busy space.
