Ru a Elmosallamy
My name is Ru’a Elmosallamy, a mom of 4 beautiful children and a returning student to NJIT. I started my journey at NJIT when the Interior Design Program was first established, and I am happy to have made the right decision of returning and completing my BA in Interior Design. It was not a smooth journey, there were a lot of bumpy roads along the way. However, I am here to tell you “If I can do it, you can do it!” Determination, Dedication, Perseverance, and hard work will get you through what may seem impossible at one point. Since the pandemic hit and we all had to be home for the majority of the time, I have realized that the space you occupy can have a great effect on one's performance, mood, etc. Therefore, I am interested in working with clients that want help creating a space at home that is beautiful, functional, uplifting, and that is true to who they are. I am forever grateful to all my professors, colleagues, and the support they have given me throughout my journey here at NJIT. I will truly miss everyone. Congratulations class of 2021, WE DID IT! The Boutique Hotel
The Boutique Hotel takes place within a historical Mansion located in Newark NJ that was previously a home and business center to Gottfried Kruger (a wealthy German brewer) and Louise Scott (millionaires who lived and operated a beauty school out of the mansion). The hotel caters to business professionals and entrepreneurs to keep in line with the history of the mansion. As a way to give back to the Community, the Hotel Provides professional development classes to its guest and community members held in the Louis Scott Library and Business Center on the premises. It also provides an environment where hotel guests and people from the community can enjoy each other’s company through comedy, poetry, and food at the Kruger Bar and Lounge. Most importantly it provides a boutique space to showcase the merchandise that is produced by the Makerhoods (local creative entrepreneurs). My design reflects inspiration from the building itself and its history, keeping some of the historic elements throughout the building while marrying it with some contemporary elements to bring it to the modern-day.
