My name is Nicholas Seccondro, and I am graduating with a bachelor’s degree in Digital Design. Over the past four years, I have discovered that I have a strong passion for creating digital facsimiles of creatures and characters in full 3D and bringing them to life in the form of animation. In the long term, I hope to one day be able to use the skills that I have acquired in my four years of study to tell stories in an animation studio or educate people by studying and reconstructing ancient creatures to bring them back to life in the digital world. Anticus
These three images are frames from my thesis studio project, which is a 1-minute long animation titled “Anticus”. The animation is one part of a sequence in which a young nomad travels through a forest on the back of his animal companion, only to discover a great disturbance in the forest. This prompts him to investigate the trouble, which turns out to be a giant, insectoid automaton. The animation itself is a metaphor for deforestation and the destruction of older, “antiquated” cultures and environment.
