My passion for design and my thirst for knowledge have dramatically grown over the years. I consider design as a tool to enhance humanity and to provide a better society overall. For that reason, I plan to pursue my graduate studies at the HCAD Architecture program. I could not be prouder to graduate from HCAD's wondrous undergraduate Interior Design Program with a minor in sustainability and environmental studies. The program has provided me with the tools and knowledge to help me develop skills and experiences in the industry and among my peers. Zag Hotel
Zag Hotel is a NEWH and A + D Director's Scholarship award-winning project for its use of sustainable methods and recycling shipping containers as hotel suites and providing clients a satisfactory holistic environment following WELL standards, while possibly expecting a WELL Gold certification for reaching over 60 points. The chosen building is square shaped with a chamfered corner. By adapting the existing building condition, the containers' layout settled on referencing that angled edge. The containers are placed with a 45-degree angle to the boundary line producing a zigzag form in the center of the building. Considering the idea of recycling, the containers inside the suites transform beyond the rectangular shape by manipulating the walls of the containers to open the box and exposing the armature of the container inside the suite. The suites are reusing the corrugated metal as a pivoting wall divider for privacy purposes or hidden inside the walls of the suites. This concept of manipulating walls of the containers provides an open, crisp design with intimate spaces that are furnished to suit everyone's health, needs, and wellbeing.
