My journey at NJIT started 3 years ago and it's been full of hard work. I am grateful for the wonderful people I met during these 3 years and the wonderful experiences at NJIT. I am so proud to be awarded the "Joseph Milanaik Memorial Endowed Scholarship" and "Graduate Excellence in Design" by HCAD. Recently, I worked as a graduate research assistant with Hyojin Kim. Sloping Garden: Four Freedoms Museum
This project is located on Roosevelt Island surrounded by Downtown Manhattan on the East and Queens on the West. The concept of my design is to create connection between Khan’s FDR Memorial and the Smallpox hospital, as well as to create rich experience in between. The building consists of one ramp which brings the landscape into the building while connecting the galleries and cafe together. I wanted to create an unforgettable experience as a public space with the creation of a ramp. While the north transparent facade environmentally brought light to the galleries and cafe, I also treat the south facade differently and use perforated louvers which can be operable by users and control the direct sunlight to the galleries. In this way, the project has an environmentally sensitive approach and has become experientially rich.
