After 6 years at NJIT, this graduation marks the end of my academic career at NJIT. I completed my Bachelors of Arts of Interior Design at NJIT in 2019, and am proud to say that I am now completing my Masters of Architecture. The last 6 years have been filled with a lot of hard work, but I would not trade it for the world. I could not have asked for better professors, mentors and friends throughout the years at NJIT. I am forever thankful for the HCAD community and will always remember my time to be inspirational, educational and thought provoking. Beacons of Light: Four Freedoms Museum
Situated between the Small Pox Hospital and the Four Freedoms Park on Roosevelt Island sits the Four Freedoms Museum: Beacons of light. The Four Freedoms Museum acts as a beacon of freedom, hope and light, and the museum represents those ideas. Four Boxes are lifted off the ground and lit up at night that is seen as a beacon of light from Manhattan and Queens. The museum consists of 4 parts: below grade museum entrance and café, grade site circulation, four lit up museum boxes and museum circulation which acts as a vine to the galleries. By raising the boxes, not only do they act as a beacon of light, but they allow for a path under the boxes that lead one to the grand stairs which was Louis Kahn's intent when designing the Four Freedoms Park.
