I have come a long way and experienced a lot throughout my college career. I went to County College of Morris to explore possible career paths and after much research, I found Industrial Design. I found that Industrial Design combined my two passions, science and art. Finding the industrial design career path was somewhat of a “Cinderella” type story. After trying out a few different majors, it did not feel like a perfect fit for me until I started studying industrial design. I know it sounds cliché but it’s completely true. Even growing up, I loved learning about different manufacturing processes and how everyday objects were produced. After getting my associates degree, I transferred to NJIT to further my education. Fun with Pizza: Task Completion Products
My final thesis project was to create a product line that motivated children both extrinsically and intrinsically to complete tasks from start to finish. I did this through the family bonding activity of cooking, specifically making pizza. I mean what kid doesn’t like pizza? The finished product line consists of three kits, each with their own animal habitat theme, for a total of seven products. The kits represent the stages of cooking; ingredient preparation, cooking and clean up. The kit themes include; African Savanna, South American Rainforest and the Ocean. The products are fun and safe for children and have educational value about the world’s habitats. One product from each kit was physically prototyped and the rest were 3D modeled. I decided to develop multiple products so I could build a brand around them instead of just one product.
