Antonia Santoro
Hi, I’m Antonia Santoro! Studying at NJIT has really helped me to grow to become more me. I learned who I am both as a person and as an architect. I am not the same person who walked in 5 years ago. I was fortunate to have many great professors here at HCAD. Along with my classmates and students, they have helped me through persistent challenges. I developed my own style with everyone's guidance. The most rewarding thing anyone has said to me in my five years here has been, “I can tell which board is yours, it has your style. I can see myself in the future coming across a building and saying, I can tell Antonia made that.” Thank you :)
Chihuly Art Museum Venice
This is one of my favorite projects, a glass museum, located in Venice, Italy. The site is arranged to welcome visitors both on foot and by gondola, with a piazza at the center. There are 3 different museum units that allow for art to be displayed in different ways. A landscape unit that displays the art in exterior gardens, a waterscape unit that displays art in the venetian lagoon, and a campo unit that displays art on venetian tile. Gallery spaces are to house sculptures of all sizes and change every season. To adhere to the changing art pieces, sliding partitions are located in each of the gallery spaces, and allow for art pieces to be moved outdoors depending on the time of year. The site houses four hot shops as well, where visitors can watch the sculptures on display being made.
