From a young age, I had a passion for creativity. In high school I took a few interior design courses which confirmed the path I wanted to follow. I was also introduced to environmental science which fascinated me. It became clear to me then that design could be meaningful, beautiful, and sustainable. Hillier College has taught me the essence of interior design, to promote health, safety and welfare while enhancing the human experience within a space, with the use of creativity, concept, form, and functionality. I now feel proud to say I have a degree in what I am most passionate about. I am so excited to use all the knowledge from this amazing program in the next chapter of my life, as I am continuing my education and pursuing a Master of Science in Architecture degree with a focus of sustainability at NJIT in the fall. Harvest Heights
Harvest Heights is a culinary school, restaurant, and community center. It encompasses the ideas of farm to table, demonstration, education, flexibility, and wellness. With the use of a transitional design style, the traditional foundations of the existing building are used with the incorporation of new contemporary elements. Harvest Heights has open kitchen studio spaces that work flexibly for students and professors to learn and demonstrate. Students would be able to get fresh ingredients from the outdoor garden or the in-house farmer’s market. The community would be able to have a full experience coming to Harvest Heights with possibilities to purchase fresh, learn from the farmers and student run classes how to use those ingredients and then be able to taste them at the farm to table restaurant that has a constantly changing menu depending on season. Harvest Heights would grow, sell, educate, and help promote a healthier lifestyle.
