NCSPA engaged Mott MacDonald to redevelop the South Gate Complex of the Port of Wilmington. The optimization of this site for truck routing and container storage, along with the constraints of their current office, required the existing control operations to be relocated to a new building. As a result, the control building, which was previously hidden on site, was pushed to forefront of the Complex. With the new building's predominant location, facing a major thoroughfare, it was paramount for the structure to speak to the modernization of the complex while integrating the overall branding of North Carolina Ports.
