This proposal aims to knit the community together through a “Green Convenience and Garden Shop” that caters primarily to a community garden in the courtyard, as well as many roof/terrace gardens on upper levels. Having a community garden would allow for greater relationships between NJIT and the Newark community, and it would also be a sustainable use of land. The “Green Convenience” aspect of the store provides residents and the public with green alternatives to everyday household objects that are bad for the environment to reduce an individual’s carbon footprint.
