Admission and Portfolio Requirements

Applications to all CoAD programs at NJIT are handled centrally by the Office of Admissions. The College of Architecture and Design (CoAD) requires students to submit a portfolio of creative work as part of the NJIT admissions process. A portfolio conveys an applicant’s visual awareness and reflects their potential for success in design education. The College considers the portfolio as only one of a number of factors when evaluating a candidate for admission, but submission is required. In some instances, a strong portfolio may make the difference between the College offering a place in the class or not. Please see below specific guidelines for the school and program at CoAD you are applying for:

Freshman Applications

Freshman applications must be submitted through the Common Application and the associated portfolio through the integrated SlideRoom application as specified below.

Transfer Students

External transfer students coming from either a two-year or four-year institution must apply through the NJIT Office of Admissions. A portfolio of creative work must also be submitted via the CoAD Transfer & Non Common Application section of SlideRoom. Official transcript(s) must be submitted to the NJIT Office of Admissions.
